LMR auto-finalize note functionality will be disabled - effective January 5, 2011    Top of Page

Effective January 5, 2011 the functionality in LMR that automatically changes the status of an unsigned note from preliminary to final after 21 days will be disabled.   Once disabled, all unsigned notes will remain in a preliminary status until they are reviewed and finalized by the provider.

Recent federal and state regulatory changes have increased the requirements for medical record documentation.   These changes include a requirement that all clinicians affirmatively attest ("sign") all notes entered into the medical record.  The intent of this LMR change is to help ensure compliance with these requirements.

If you currently use auto-finalize to finalize your notes, please make an effort to learn how to properly finalize your preliminary documents prior to January 5th. You can finalize a document by selecting Document Management from the Desktop menu within LMR. Then, click on the subject of the note you want to review/finalize and then click on the Final button at the bottom of the screen. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, please contact you support analyst through the Feedback button found under the Resource tab in the LMR.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 will no longer be supported for use with LMR - effective Spring Release 2011   Top of Page

The LMR will suspend support of the Internet Explorer 6 browser version (IE6) with the Spring 2011 LMR release.   With the availability of IE7 and IE8 , and the impending release of IE9, it was  agreed that that the time had come to phase out support for this older browser version.

While LMR is making this change to its supported browser versions, you may still be using another piece of software that requires IE6.  Therefore, we recommend you consult with your local IT support team to determine the right approach for you.  For some, this may require an upgrade to one of the supported versions of Internet Explorer.  For others, this may require a different way to access LMR so that IE6 can remain on your desktop computer.

LMR Problem and Procedure lists to be shared with patients  - effective June 1, 2011 Top of Page

Providing patients with electronic access and copies of their health information are federal requirements under the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  The regulations developed under this Act specify the types of health information that must be made available to patients, and include patient problem and procedure lists among these types.

Following review by Partners' Chief Medical Officers and the Partners' Clinical Content Committee, it was agreed that Patient Gateway users would gain access to their problem and procedure lists beginning June 1, 2011.

CONGRATULATIONS - Patient Gateway reaches milestone: 100,000 active users  Top of Page

In 2002, Partners began offering patients online access to their health information via Patient Gateway.  Over time, use of Patient Gateway has grown and in November 2010, Patient Gateway registered its 100,000th active patient.  Patients are using Patient Gateway to request appointments, renew prescriptions, view lab results and exchange messages with their physician's practice.  This milestone represents a near doubling of active patients since the end of 2009, demonstrating that patient interest in online interactions with their providers is on the rise.

Increase office efficiencies and get a jumpstart on the ARRA EHR incentive program and meaningful use requirements. Contact your LMR support analyst to learn more about Patient Gateway.
